The Yellow Wallpaper

Okay---here it is.....the dreaded classroom with the yellow wallpaper.  Please tell me if I'm being overly dramatic, but can you imagine being able to pay attention in this room?

Here's a close up of the windowless room.

And here you can see how the back wall is nicely slanted in so that if feels like it's closing in on you!!!

Now, I would hate for anyone to think that I'm opposed to wallpaper.  You can check out this past post to see some examples of good wallpaper.

  1. This is the one in the nursing building, right? I always have to teach break-out sessions in there during summer orientation. Also, Graham actually had to teach 24 freshman english students in that room his first year--misery.

  3. It kind of reminds me of this disturbing short story I read in high school and college called "The Yellow Wallpaper" about a woman who was locked in a room with yellow wallpaper and ended up going into a psychosis. I think she was possibly referring to THIS wallpaper! YUCK!! By the way, the story is by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, just so you can get the full effect.

  5. You must all sneak in there and paint three of the walls a good medium gray, change the lighting up a bit and replace the chairs with white ones. There could be a nice big statement art piece added as well if you could sneak it in... Do everyone the favour... :)
